I met my soul mate in 1997 but we didn't realize it until 14 years after.
I was at my freshman high school when i met her. She was our student leader for our class and she was a year older than I am. She is pretty, bubbly and smart, and she is one of the top of her class. An all-in-one package if you may say, and maybe the reason why I have a huge crush on her, but that was it.
Time flew. We both graduated high school with no major event happening between us except me having a crush on her.
Then college came and fortunately we ended up in the same school too but we took different courses. I took up Computer Science while she's studying Accounting. In college we had our own separate lives, different set of friends, had different relationships, in fact, we only have a "hi-hello" greeting every time we see each other.
College passed, and I never saw her then. The only news I got from her after several years was when I saw her pictures in Facebook that she's in Dubai now and that she was engaged. I didn't mind because at that time, I was with my 5-year relationship (now Ex) girlfriend.
Undeniably, me and my ex-girlfriend broke up, I moved on and went on with my life. Dated a few and didn't find the "right girl" until one day (August 9, to be exact), someone sent me a message in Facebook, and it was her. I never got excited at that time to be honest. We exchanged a few messages and messages turned to chats talking about what's going on with our lives and mostly catching up. I shared my story after college and she told hers. I learned that she's been in Dubai for 3 years now and that, she didn't end up with her (now Ex) fiancé.
We continued to chat over Facebook. Then one day she told me she's going home. I got excited, so excited that I can't explain my anticipation. From then on, I realized that at that point that I already like her more than what I used to.
And finally she went home! Our first date started over coffee and that was the time I started to fall for her. The first date was followed by succeeding dates, we talked anything under the sun, I was surprised that we have so much in common, from favorite foods, to hobbies, and even up to our own personality. Every moment with her is just like in cloud nine. Both of us eventually fell in love with each other, and on December 13, we became "us".
I feel like I'm the luckiest man in the world. I can't believe that the girl that I used to have a crush with is finally my girlfriend. I never felt this happy and contented, and with her, everything just felt right. It's like; she is the puzzle piece that completes me. I never believed that soul mates exist but now I do, and it is all because of her.
There are a lot of songs that I can think of for her but this one perfectly fits our love story. I love you Maebelle and I dedicate this song for you.
