Crowded by 94 Million

Earlier while I was watching either National Geographic or Discovery Channel (not sure where I saw it), It was mentioned that by 2015, Earth's population will bloat up to 9 billion and this got me curious to check what is the Philippines' population today. Upon checking Wikipedia, as of July 2011 Philippines has a whooping 94 million!
That's 94 million food consuming Filipinos everyday! Now let's do the math. let's say every Filipino eats PHP 20.00 worth of food per day at a minimum. I know that this is very little, but let's just put it as that. now 94M x 20 = 1.88 billion and as of this writing, rice costs PHP 30.00 at the average. Now imagine 62 million kilos of rice consumed everyday! And this is the reason that the prices of things steadily go up since the law of supply and demand always hits us. With prices going up, a lot of us Filipinos suffer. People under the poverty line increases, means a lot more Filipinos are hungry.

Now, if you sum it up, the root cause as to why we are a poor country is due to overpopulation. Just compare a family of 4 (father, mother, and 2 kids) with the same financial status and earning same amount of money to a family of 7 (5 kids). Which family do you think who's kids are well provided?

This things led me to think about the current RH Bill that our country has been debating on. I know that the anti-RH Bill loyalists will flame me for this but I think that RH bill will help us greatly in improving our lives. With RH bill in place, it will help us control our population, thus minimizing inflation due to controlled demands. With minimized inflation, prices doesn't skyrocket that fast which makes the money we are making now more sufficient for our family. If you are not convinced, do the math. Personally, I plan to have kids someday to no more than 3 but that's just me.

So do you think it is time for the RH bill to be approved in congress? Share us your thoughts and leave a comment below.
